every woman has the power to change the world.

It is with great excitement and pride that Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity announces our third Women Build day on Friday, May 14, 2021.

Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity is inviting Rockford’s wonder women to join together on Friday, May 14 as we put our strength and power to use building homes, and you’re invited! Whether your tool belt is brand new or well broken in, you can help improve this community that we all share by becoming a builder for a day!

While women are always welcome and valued on our construction site, our Women Build day is part of an international initiative to recruit, educate and inspire women to build— and advocate for—safe, affordable housing opportunities for local families. The Women Build program has been an official initiative of Habitat for Humanity International since 1998, and Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity hosted our inaugural Women Build in 2018.

For COVID-safety, we are limiting this year’s Women Build day to 20 volunteers, so registrations will be taken on a first-come first-served basis.

What to expect if you register to participate:

  • Registered volunteers will work from 9:00 until 2:00 on Friday, May 14 with up to 19 other women
  • Lunch will be provided.
  • All work will be outdoors. Inclement weather would result in a cancellation.
  • Face coverings will be required while volunteering.
  • The location is on Rockford’s southeast side, and the address will be sent to you in a follow up email if you register, along with additional day-of details.
  • Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Additional ways to get involved with the Women Build initiative if you’re building with us on the 14th (or even if you’re not!):

Check out our Women Build fundraising page by clicking the “Donate or Fundraise” button below! You can make a donation and share the link on your social media for an instant impact on our build season. If you’re interested in inviting others to participate in the Women Build by volunteering or giving, consider clicking the “Fundraise” button on the page. In less than a minute you’ll be set up with your own personal link that you can use to raise funds for Habitat’s mission and/or invite others to volunteer on the Women Build team!

Women work; women nurture; women lead; women build! Women wear so many hats – on May 14th, let a hard hat be one of them!
