Formed in 1988, Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity is the local Habitat affiliate for Winnebago County, Illinois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our work is not about houses, it is about homeowners. It\u2019s about our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Habitat is dedicated to building homes, neighborhoods, and lives through improved housing opportunity. We build simple, decent, affordable homes to be sold to families currently living in substandard housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rockford Habitat is for families who are ready to make a life-changing commitment to become homeowners. Families are selected on the basis of need for adequate housing, ability to make mortgage payments, and willingness to become partners in the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We help households achieve strength, stability, and opportunity by fortifying the place they call home. We do this through the construction and affordable sale of safe homes for new homeowners; through critical home preservation efforts for existing homeowners; and through the broad advocacy that supports housing solutions for all. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our organization was founded as a volunteer-run housing developer that completed and sold its first home in 1990.
We created a loan-product that would require a very minimal down payment and would bear no interest to increase buying power for households on a limited income. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
