Welcome to Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity

Helping Rockford families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

Services

Homeownership

Our Homeownership program offers local families the opportunity to purchase a safe, decent, and affordable home. We partner with individuals and families who are ready to build a more stable future but are unable to qualify for a traditional mortgage. Our program provides a path to long-term housing security through education, support, and an affordable mortgage.

Critical Home Repairs

Our Critical Home Repair Program provides essential repairs that restore safety, accessibility, and livability for low-income homeowners. Our goal is to help residents remain in their homes with dignity by addressing issues that threaten health, safety, or long-term stability.

Volunteer

We have so many opportunities to volunteer with Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity. If you are interested in learning more, check out our volunteer page and contact our Volunteer Coordinator.

Shop the ReStore

The Rockford Area Habitat ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used building materials, furniture, appliances, and home goods at affordable prices. Every purchase and donation supports Habitat’s mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance in our local community.

Our Mission

We help households achieve strength, stability, and opportunity by fortifying the place they call home. We do this through the construction and affordable sale of safe homes for new homeowners; through critical home preservation efforts for existing homeowners; and through the broad advocacy that supports housing solutions for all.

Our Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Who We Are

Our organization was founded as a volunteer-run housing developer that completed and sold its first home in 1990.
We created a loan-product that would require a very minimal down payment and would bear no interest to increase buying power for households on a limited income.
