“Creating a community who will come together for their neighbor to ensure they have their most basic need met is what gets me excited to work everyday.”
– Greta, Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Coordinator
Meet Greta, our Volunteer Coordinator!
Greta works with all of the awesome volunteers in every corner of RAHFH. This includes supporting the True Blue volunteers at the ReStore, as well as coordinating with community groups, churches, individual volunteers, and Weekday Wonders, who are all vital to the construction process.
Greta says that her role is “largely community facing and engaging with volunteers,” which she really enjoys.
We are so appreciative of all that Greta does to help the RAHFH family grow. Volunteers are truly the backbone of Habitat, and Greta invites the community into our mission, encourages and recognizes the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, and ultimately helps to sustain the work that we do.
With that, here is our Q&A with Greta!
What is one fun or surprising fact about you?
“A fun fact about me is that I am a first-generation college graduate – Go Huskies!”
When you’re not serving with RAHFH, what are you up to? What do you do for fun?
“When I am not working you can likely find me at the lake with my family and friends, shopping at Target, or listening to a podcast.”
What do you love about Habitat?
“I love that in everything we do, it’s about the homeowner. Whether it’s selling furniture at the ReStore, recruiting new construction volunteers, or bringing lunches out on a Saturday, all of it comes back to the homeowner, and ensuring they have a safe and affordable home.”
What makes you passionate about your work?
“Rockford is what makes me passionate about what I do. Creating a community who will come together for their neighbor to ensure they have their most basic need met is what gets me excited to work everyday. I love this city, and having the opportunity to stay here and make a difference is the best part of my job.”
